Woods to Mill

The Forest Resources Association (FRA) and STIHL Incorporated honored JATCO, Inc. of Duluth, MN as the Lake States Region (LSR) National Outstanding Logger at FRA’s LSR Fall Meeting in Duluth on October 8.
Several years ago, Idaho Forest Group began discussing common workforce shortages with industry partners. Some employees would make the rounds from company to company, and there was a shortage of new talent.
FRA’s Western Region recently held its 2019 Fall Meeting in Lewiston, Idaho. The region planning committee has a long-standing commitment to content, collaboration and networking.
The forest products industry is positioned for technological change. We’ve certainly seen significant increases in the equipment our industry uses – in the woods, in the log yard, at the mill.
Nearly every forested state in the U.S. has Logger Training and Education (LT&E) Programs. Since the 1990s, most of these comprehensive training programs have offered both loggers and wood procurement personnel continuing education opportunities covering a variety of timber harvesting topics.
