FRA Issue Update - 1/10/20

H-2B ACTION ALERT: U.S. Representatives Andy Harris (R-MD-1), Chellie Pingree (D-ME-1), Jack Bergman (R-MI-1) and Jack Keating (D-MA-9) and Senators Angus King (I-ME) and Mike Rounds (R-SD) are circulating a letter to the Acting Secretary of Homeland Security, Chad Wolf, asking that he immediately release all of the additional H-2B visas authorized under the law.

FRA Issue Update - 11/27/19

The Wisconsin Council on Forestry has endorsed the Safe Routes Act. In a letter to Senator Baldwin (WI) the Council states “Legislation such as the Safe Routes Act, is needed to allow state legal log trucks the option to avoid rural and urban streets and highways and populated areas where pedestrian activities are numerous and where frequent intersections increase traffic safety concerns.

FRA Issue Update - 11/22/19

Congressman David Rouzer (R-NC-7) has signed on as a cosponsor to the Safe Routes Act (HR 2453).
FRA participated this week in a Capitol Hill Fly-In organized by the H-2B Workforce Coalition of which we are members. Representatives from the National Association of Landscape Professionals, the Seasonal Employment Alliance, AmericanHort, and the Golf Course Superintendents Association were also on hand.
Last weekend, Congressman Gallagher (R-WI-8) hopped into a log truck to get a better understanding of the issues that the Safe Routes Act aims to resolve. The Congressman rode “shotgun” as logs were transported from the woods to Algoma Lumber which is located in the Congressman Gallagher’s district.
