Twenty-one-minute video, with Discussion Leader’s Guide, orients logging personnel and others about the hazards of working with, and working in the vicinity of, in-woods chippers and grinders. A version with Spanish-language narrative is also included on the DVD.

Improving Log Trucking Profitability Workshop 09-A-1
Facilitated PowerPoint presentation, directed to loggers and log trucking managers. The CD-based Workshop reviews ways to ensure a full and legal load and presents tips and techniques for saving fuel, reducing truck tare weight, and deploying trucking assets more effectively. Designed for a discussion leader with some knowledge of forest products trucking to present in an interactive setting, the 61-slide presentation provides material for a three-hour workshop. A ten-page Discussion Leader’s Guide, to cue the facilitator through the interactive session, is included, along with the PowerPoint CD.

Log Loader Safety Video for Log Truck Operators 08-A-7
Fifteen-minute DVD, with instructor’s guide, provides basic information about truck-mounted log loader operation and maintenance, covering broad situations that could be potentially hazardous or cause injury either to the operator or to ground personnel. Designed for presentation in a facilitated session, the training program should run 45 minutes to an hour. Produced with the assistance of the Forest Industry Safety and Training Alliance (FISTA) and many cooperators.

Load Securement for Logs Video 08-A-5
Thirteen-minute video produced by North Carolina Forestry Association, with funding from the Timber Harvesting & Transportation Safety Foundation, reviews federal requirements for straps and chains on treelength or double-bunk wood. Includes walk-around truck/trailer inspection, securement guidelines, and details on working load limits for securement devices. Intended for truck drivers, loggers, and rehaul yards. Suitable for use in a one-hour training session, or as a stand-alone self-education module. Leaders’ guide included. Available in DVD format only.

Skidder Safety and Efficiency Video 08-A-4
This 19-minute video, developed with funding from the National Timber Harvesting and Transportation Safety Foundation and with the collaboration of many cooperators, can help a logger or facilitator lead a two-hour workshop for logging workers to improve implementation of safety routines, maintenance measures, and overall efficiency while on or near a skidder.
Price:  $50 to FRA members, $100 to all others.

Northern Forestry Aesthetics Workshop 08-A-1
CD (with PowerPoint presentation) and printed Discussion Leader’s Guide form the basis of an educational presentation to orient forestry staff and supplier personnel about the principles of improving the visual impact of forest operations in Northern settings. Timber Harvesting Deck Safety Video 06-A-6
Video-based training program designed to enable a crew supervisor or independent facilitator to provide all employees on a logging job with a basic understanding of the hazards associated with working at or near the log deck or landing. Four modules cover (1) overcoming dangers in locating a deck site, (2) safety elements when setting up the deck, (3) safety meetings, communications, and personal protective equipment, and (4) physical hazards, truck driver-related issues, and visitor safety. Fifteen-page leader’s manual included.

Wood Roads Safety Video 05-A-6
17-minute video highlights the driving hazards associated with forest roads, especially those in the Northeastern U.S. The primary target audience for this instructional video is forest industry professionals who regularly travel on forest roads during the workweek. Secondarily, the video reaches out to non-industry users of private gravel roads such as hunters, campers, and snowmobilers. Woods Road Safety shows drivers how to avoid accidents by being aware of common hazards and being prepared to use the necessary defensive driving skills.

25-minute video, featuring former Auburn University football coach Pat Dye, introduces basic training and coaching concepts and applies them to building a "winning" team on a logging operation. Structured in three segments to facilitate discussion in a group setting, the video defines the role of the player (crew member), the role of the coach (logging contractor), and formulating the game (harvest) plan.
