Rockville, MD – On June 2, the Forest
Resources Association elected Jim Brody, Vice President - Forest for
Temple Inland Inc., to serve as FRA’s Chairman for the coming two-year
period.
Brody thanked his predecessor, Rick Frost, for his leadership in restoring
FRA’s solid fiscal base, pointing out that the Association’s expanding
membership had enabled it to reopen its Lake States Region office, and
commented, “you have truly been a role model for what it means to be a
servant leader.”
Brody affirmed, “we are the only entity which is fully focused on the
efficiency of the raw material supply chain from the forests to the
mills.”
Apart from continuing to involve all levels of FRA’s leadership in growing
and maintaining membership, Brody indicated that the principal area of
focus for his Chairmanship would be “to move to the next level with
respect to tangibly improving profitability within the primary
landowner/supplier/consumer raw material supply chain.”
He pointed to several recent harvesting and transportation efficiency
initiatives within the industry, as well as joint initiatives underway
within FRA and allied organizations, stating, “this is the time for us to
create the structural ‘out of the box’ change necessary to take
responsibility for the future-state supply chain efficiencies we all want
to exist.”
As Temple Inland’s Vice President - Forest, Jim Brody is responsible for
the company’s 1.8 million acres of strategic timberland in Texas, Georgia,
Louisiana, and Alabama.
Brody has worked for Temple-Inland for 20 years, in wood supply, as well
as in production management and mill management assignments throughout the
organization. He received his BS in Forest Engineering from Purdue and
holds an MBA from the University of Tennessee, with concentrations in
Forest Industries Management and Finance.
He is based in Diboll, Texas.
The Forest Resources Association Inc. is a nonprofit trade association
concerned with the safe, efficient, and sustainable harvest of forest
products and their transport from woods to mill. FRA represents wood
consumers, independent logging contractors, and wood dealers, as well as
businesses providing products and services to the forest resource-based
industries.
