Rockville, MD – The Forest Resources Association has added a new safety brochure, Safely Loading and Unloading Logging Equipment for Transport, to the archive of brochures on the Timber Harvesting and Transportation Safety Foundation web site at www.loggingsafety.com. Access and downloads are free.

“We realized that an educational gap has developed with respect to the safe loading and securement of logging equipment on truck beds for transport,” stated FRA’s Southern and Appalachian Region Manager, Rick Meyer, speaking for FRA’s Southwide Safety Committee, which developed the brochure.

He noted that several recent FRA Safety Alerts have analyzed accidents occurring while equipment is being loaded, as well as highway incidents associated with inadequately secured equipment.

Clicking the “Safety Brochures” icon on the www.loggingsafety.com home page displays the nine Southwide Safety Committee brochures now available for free download, including this latest one.

The Forest Resources Association Inc. is a nonprofit trade association concerned with the safe, efficient, and sustainable harvest of forest products and their transport from woods to mill. FRA represents wood consumers, independent logging contractors, and wood dealers, as well as businesses providing products and services to the forest resource-based industries.
