Rockville, MD – The Forest Resources Association is ready to take your registration to attend FRA’s 75th Annual Meeting, at the Marriott Hotel at Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, March 13-16.

The overall Annual Meeting theme is “The Challenges Ahead,” with presentations on “Seizing 2009 Highway Reauthorization Bill Opportunities,” “TNT – Trucking ’N’ Taxes,” “Working with a New Administration,” and “Affordable Wood Fiber Supply.”

FRA National Committee meetings, with educational presentations, will occupy Friday, March 13 through Sunday morning, March 15. All of these sessions, with the exception of Friday afternoon’s Executive Committee meeting, are open to all registrants. At noon Sunday, the more formal Meeting program will open, with FRA’s Annual Awards Luncheon, followed by the Board of Directors meeting and a Networking Reception.

The Wood Supply Research Institute will hold its all-day annual meeting at the same location, on Friday, March 13. (Separate registration is required.)

Since the 2009 Annual Meeting marks an important milestone for FRA, Monday’s Members Breakfast will open with a special commemorative presentation. Don’t miss “75 Years of Service to the Forest and Paper Industry” by a “Mystery Speaker” with a special perspective.

Monday’s first General Session will feature a trio of heavy hitters on “Seizing 2009 Highway Reauthorization Bill Opportunities”--Congressman Hank Brown (R-South Carolina), the American Trucking Associations’ Chairman “Shorty” Whittington, and South Carolina Secretary of Transportation Buck Limehouse. Representatives of the three main federal Gross Vehicle Weight reform coalitions will then light the TNT--“Trucking ’N’ Taxes”--and touch off a dialogue on obtaining a favorable outcome this legislative year--Harry Haney, of the Coalition for Transportation Productivity; Mike Branch, of the Agricultural Transportation Efficiency Coalition; and Robert Pugh of Americans for Safe & Efficient Transport.

Following the Annual Luncheon--featuring Democratic Congressman Mike Michaud, of Maine--a second General Session on “Working with a New Administration and Congress” will present the views and predictions of three seasoned federal policy warriors: John Runyan of International Paper; Donna Harman of the American Forest & Paper Association; and Tom Howard of Domtar. To conclude the afternoon, a session on “Affordable Wood Fiber Supply” will include an update on “Global Wood Fiber Flow” from RISI’s Bob Flynn and a special presentation, “Bio-Energy Development: Reality Check,” speaker to be announced.

The Exhibitors Hall will be open Sunday and Monday, with a silent auction to benefit the National Timber Harvesting and Transportation Safety Foundation.

For best rates, be sure to register by February 20, 2009!
