FRA RELEASES “TIMBER HARVESTING DECK SAFETY” VIDEO

The Forest Resources Association has released a new safety training video, Timber Harvesting Deck Safety, produced
by the Southwide Safety Committee and the Forestry Mutual Insurance Company, with funding from FRA’s Timber Harvesting and Transportation Safety Foundation.

This video-based training program is designed to enable a crew supervisor or independent facilitator to provide all employees on a logging job with a basic understanding of the hazards associated with working at or near the log deck or landing.

The training program covers:

  • General logging safety requirements that apply to all logging employees.
  • Personal Protective Equipment requirements.
  • Complying with Best Management Practices.
  • Environmental conditions affecting safety operations.
  • Safety deck layout.
  • Who is responsible for safety on the deck?
  • Safe deck operations for ground personnel and truck drivers.
