MAKING A PERSUASIVE PRESENTATION Speaking in front of small groups is not easy, but the more you do it, the better you'll get. A key component before you even get started on the presentation is to get a good understanding of the audience. Normally, let's assume you know generally the type of audience. It's useful to get to your meeting ahead of time, and spend several minutes meeting the people who will be in the audience. Doing so will give you an additional feel for their reasons in attending, and sends the message ahead of time, that you are interested in them. Here are three simple guidelines for your presentation that should cover nearly every situation: Prepare for the possibility of speaking to a hostile audience. Finally, practice makes perfect. If you can commit to a minimum of two speaking presentations every year, you will quickly find this becoming much more comfortable. Forest Resources Association
