FRA CHAIRMAN, DICK CARMICAL

On March 14, the Forest Resources Association elected Dick Carmical, President and Chief Executive Officer of The Price Companies, to serve as FRA's Chairman for the coming two-year period.

Carmical thanked his predecessor, Dave Liebetreu, and paid tribute to his strong leadership through a very difficult time, both for the wood supply sector and for the Association, and noted that a climate of uncertainty seemed likely going forward.

"The new opportunities in bio-energy will bring many challenges, and we don't know how they will play out, or how all the incentives will play out, either. It could be radical change, or it could be nothing. But we need to give these new businesses the benefit of this Association's experience. They need us, and we need them."

Dick Carmical is a founding partner, and now President and CEO, of The Price Companies, Inc., based in Monticello, Arkansas, providing harvesting, logistics, and processing for the forest products industry. Today, The Price Companies operate 21 facilities in 11 states and Australia. As President of Price Biostock Services, Dick has expanded into the growing biofuels sector, sourcing biomass to facilities.

Apart from his long service in FRA governance, Dick serves on the Board of Directors of the American Forest & Paper Association and supports the American Council On Renewable Energy, the Biomass Coordinating Council, and 25x'25, as well as the Delta Waterfowl Association.

Dick, his wife, Bernadette, and their four sons continue to live on their family ranch in southeast Arkansas, where they have put into practice a variety of land stewardship projects.
